You pay FoMoCo $135.00 for the vinyl floor in lieu of the carpet.
Mine is a 2020 F-350 that I special ordered and did the carpet delete. On my paperwork it was -$50 to go with vinyl instead of carpet. I did not want carpet, and they paid me to have it my way!
I put Huskyliners in, they snapped right in. The rear Huskyliner is one piece all the way across and fits great.
This is a long story so bear with me. My local dealer had found the truck I wanted. Base model XL with a 6.7, 4 door, short bed 4x4 except it had cloth seats. I went in to do the paper work and the dealer would not transfer the truck until i had put down a payment becuase "no one buys base trucks". Ok I do the deed and the transferring dealer tells my guy they traded the truck out that morning. My salesman finds another truck that's identical, but with carpet and I told him I didn't want it. So they threw in WeatherTechs for free and I obliged on the truck.
A few things, one was I regret setting and should have just pressed for what I wanted. Second, they ordered the front set as two matts vs one to to cover the center carpet under the jumper seat. My son already likes to ride there when we are cruising the ranch, and off course that's when he tracks the most dirt.
Sorry for the long post, but I have the weather tech and I don't think they will be enough. Five year olds are good at breaking everything.
With the full "over the hump" weathertech mat in the front, there really isn't any exposed flooring to speak of, and it stays still enough that I wouldn't be worried about your boy kicking it around and getting anything under it. Definitely a bum deal that you're stuck with carpet, but I would think that the full front mat would be 95% of what you're looking for, at 50% of the cost.

I've used their carpets in my OBS trucks. Fit is great. They come slightly oversized so you can trim the edges to fit your truck exactly.
I'm so excited I opted for the Carpet Delete. These pictures here help me realize I made a good decision. With Kids and the fact that my ranch has very sandy soil I no longer have to worry about stains, sand, etc. We also have dogs and this will be easy to suck up or sweep their hair.
One question I have for those that already have this. How Slippery is it? Its it a pretty GRIPPY material or is it like a greased pig?
Back in the day trucks had vinyl floors and you paid extra for carpet mats. Now carpet is standard and you pay extra for vinyl mats to cover up the carpet. I ordered my 22 lariat with carpet delete. Minnesota winters with road salt raise holy hell with carpet.
This may be dependent upon trim level, but I just received a Platinum I ordered with carpet delete, and not only did it come with posts and rubber mats, it also came with a set of carpet mats. Maybe for going to the opera or something.
