Fuel pickup foot

I've been needing to replace the pickup foot on my 06 for almost 2 years now and just been putting it off. I figured I might as well do it since its starting to warm up outside.i have the motorcraft pickup foot. But I'm curious i know when you take the lock ring off the tank there is a gasket or seal under it. Does that have to be replaced? And if it does, does anyone have a part number or point me where to get it? I want to have everything that I need once I take it apart so I don't have to have the truck down for several days.

You can reuse old seal. I had no problems.

Try Motorcraft FPR7 for the lock ring and CG796 for the o-ring.

I used a short piece of fuel line on the bottom of the pickup tube to replace the deteriorated foot. Left it just long enough that the stiffness of the line held it against the bottom of the tank and angle cut to ensure that it was able to pick up fuel. So far, so good.

ETA: I agree with Visurveyor, both items are reusable - several times...until they aren't. Then you pull the tank, again, and replace them. AMHIK.

I'd replace the topside seal on the tank--- or you'll end up getting water / moisture in the diesel fuel (when it rains spray is going everywhere under these trucks and it collects in that little area on the top of the sender, locking ring, then drips right into your tank) and wonder why you're farming/growing microbes (fungus, mold, etc) in your tank.

We've pulled all sorts of stuff from other planets out of diesel fuel tanks.

I have replaced that seal every time I have been into a tank.
One was because someone was into the tank and reused the seal and the tank leaked when filled full.
The seal is about $8.00. It may be a bit more by now. Still a low priced item.

I've reused my tank seal 4 or 5 times and (knock on wood ) not yet had a problem. I do use a touch of assembly lube on it when I put it back together. If you have a new one available, then by all means use it. I didn't, and I got lucky.
