6.7 p0284 issues

Hey everybody, recently bought a 6.7 with 370000km. New short block meaning bottom end if motor is done and tranny was done too. 50000km on motor, 80000km on tranny.

I drove the truck home and it started misfiring about a hour into the drive. I ended up limping the truck home and now that's where the p0284 (contribution/balance cylinder 8) came. On the way home it was only throwing a crank position sensor (p0336, p0315). Now it's only throwing the p0284. I imagine it's a bad injector just wondering what experience people have.

The truck starts and runs, I clear the codes and then it'll misfire after about 30 sec and then keep running. If I put it in drive it'll run but sputter and bog out sometimes. Sometimes itll run but if I come to a stop 50% bogs out.

Info on the truckeleted dpf and EGRStraight pipe axle dumpH&S mini max tuner (mostly ran in stock by me)
8" BDS lift
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I own a 7.3 excursion and this is my first 6.7 so looking for InSite. Thanks in advance.

I have confidence I can do it myself since I did my 7.3

You said the D word. It is hard to help guys with deleted trucks. Have you downloaded Forscan? You need to monitor the injectors in the ECM. Did you buy this truck from a dealer? You could replace the injector but you need to program the new injector to the truck. This is not a easy fix from what I have read. Taking it to a dealer would be what I would do. The 6.7 is a good motor but nothing like the 6.0's. Not much the DYI guys can do at home without a lot of knowledge.

If the motor short block was recently replace that opens a large can of worms that could be wrong and I would start with determining if the short block work is under warranty .

also likely that the short block is rebuilt from a block that was previously taken out of service and thrown into the used core pile.

You might contact AROD from PowerStroke Tech Talk w/ARod from Youtube. He has been known to consult 6.7L owners with engine problems and is a really sharp tech. Try emailing him at powerstroketechtalkwarod@gmail.com. And try to ignore the naysayers that don't like deleted trucks. ARod has dealt with these also! Hope this will give you some direction!

Try to forget about the black smoke part! That is what is bringing the EPA down on all of us and aftermarket manufacturers. Save the black smoke for the track!!!

Black smoke is the reason the EPA has decided to crack down on tuners. The EPA is even going after Mustang tune shops. They are finding out who does this stuff on the internet and they they show up on there doorstep wit search warrants.
