Do turbo covers work for cooling?

When we pull up Raton Pass in the summer, the auxiliary cooling fan kicks on here and there for a few seconds. I know it’s supposed to do that, but other than slowing down (not an option after spending $10k over the gasser), how else can I get better cooling without voiding the warranty? Do turbo covers make a difference on a hard-working stock truck?

Thanks in advance!

Are you trying to solve a problem that doesn't exist or create one? If the truck operates in the design parameters run it.

No! The turbo is water cooled, so as the turbo dumps more heat into the coolant loop the rad fan with kick up. Normal, and not a problem. Though if you've been running heavy boost for a while and stop, let the engine idle for a bit before you shut down.

Turn off your A/C.
Turn off accessories.
Slow down.
Lighten your load.

Those are about your only options to get better cooling without potentially voiding the warranty. They're also free. I say 'potentially' because there are likely some things you can do, but if something comes up there's a good chance that if it is in any way related to the issue Ford, like any OEM, will attempt to deny coverage.

All that said, if your aux fan is kicking on but you aren't seeing high temps on any of your temp gauges, then the truck is working as designed - keep going as you are because you aren't hurting the truck.

There is no problem here, if there was you would see trucks on the side of road cooling things down.

The clutch fan is suppose to come on high if needed. Just watch the Coolant idiot guage, If it gets close to H then pull over a minute. I bet you never get there. I never have, even pulling raton, monarch pass or the eisehower tunnel.

As said, just let it idle before shut down to cool off.

If all this concerns you get a ODB reader so you can monitor real temps. I do and use the Idash from banks.
