Turbo flutter

My 02 PSD has a bad turbo flutter. I bought the extended warranty that also covers the turbo. Will the warranty cover the flutter? Would a new turbo solve the problem? Thanks for all the help

If you're hearing a lot of flutter, you must have a low restriction exhaust system on the truck. All Powerstrokes produce flutter, and the less restriction you have, the more audible it becomes.
The flutter is caused by the turbine blades chopping up the exhaust flow, similar to what happens to your voice as you speak into a fan. If you want to get rid of the flutter, put on a more restrictive muffler.

Is the turbo flutter a really bad thing? Will it damage anything or reduce performance/response? Or is it just an annoyance?

The 7.3 is a typical V8 and it does not have an 180 degree firing order on each bank,so you will hear the outer faze pulse down at the tailpipe.

But the exhaust all goes into one turbo, so it all gets mixed together, the flutter is the turbo, MASSIVE pipes will help kill the flutter too, but they just drowned it out with a deeper tone.

I started a thread about this when I first joined this forum. I am of the opinion that the flutter is not doing the engine any good for efficiency. A tuned, equal length header intake and exhaust system would enable the engine to make a lot more power due to even and complete charging of each cylinder. And the flutter would be gone. But that would be extremly expensive and require a lot of work on the PSD to accomplish.
