I don't think it really matters since everything related to the turbos and boost pressure is electronically controlled you would need to be able to reprogram the engine control to alter the boost pressure mapping.
Some people want that vent to atmosphere sound. That loud hiss every time there is back pressure. It’s more of an attention thing. Although there is probably a small benefit that comes from releasing that pressure.
I did the vent to atmosphere thing for a while. It just made me miss my 7.3L powerstroke haha.
Try the VTA mod. You can buy a plug cheap or get a chair foot from lowes to do the same thing. For what it's worth, I do also have an aftermarket intercooler that I highly recommend.
