defrost hose problem

Today is my day for questions.
Trying to replace the defrost hose on my '52 F1
I have tried to source defrost heater hose from a couple of vendors.
However, I can't get the bloody hoses on, it seems as if they are the same diameter as the defrost "tube".
Any suggestions????????????

check with a/c and heating supply houses, there ae several different sizes, you could buy one a little larger and cinch it down with a zip tie... Mine are plastic over a wire spiral ... I wonder if you could heat it a little to get it to expand enough to slip it on... ain't if fun under the dash

Thanks, however the hose I have is a traditional style hose used back in '52. It is a cloth type with wire, putting a little heat to it , would most likely cause me to have to call the insurance company about fire damage.
Trying to source out the right stuff to keep the truck somewhat 'original'.

Put WD40 on the nozzle or Vaseline or something else to make your hose slide on better.

BTW, where is you find the original style cloth hose? I put reproduction plastic with wire coil on my 54. My 55 still has the original defroster hose.

I just did this last week, the heater output side had some small slots that I was able to bend inward a fuzz to assist in the hose actually fitting. I used the 2 inch cloth wire stuff from DC.

OF course I have the correct OEM style 1 3/4" ID defrost hose . The company that sells it will only sell it in 25 ft. lengths .

If this is a wire wrap type hose you have to twist in the right direction when installing . One way tightens the coil the other relaxes it .

I bought replacement hose from McMaster Carr for my '54.
They have just about any size you need and you can buy it by the foot.
