My '56 Panel, that I sold 20 years ago and bought back almost 4 years ago, had a Volare IFS stuck under it when I sold it, that I had put under it. It was not welded in. The buddy that I sold it to, and bought it back from moved it around a little while he had it and the front of the frame, from the notch for the IFS forward got bent upwards slightly. Now I'm ready to align the IFS crossmember in the frame and weld it in, before I rebuild it with all new parts. I plan to box the inside of the frame and plate the outside as it should be. I know I've seen the drawings (probably on here) that show the dimensions of stock (56) F100 frames, but can't seem to find them now. I need to know the measurements from the front frame ends to the floor and a point behind the front suspension, maybe the front cab mounts (?) and again rearward, possibly just in front of the front hangers for the rear springs. If I don't get the front frame "horns" back level with the rest of the frame before I plate the outside the radiator support crossmember will be too high/low and the front sheetmetal will never fit right. I plan to clip a little off the front frame and redrill the bumper mounting holes to tuck the bumper in a little closer but I haven't cut any off yet. Thanks if you can help me. I don't have another F100 available to measure.
Thanks BJ but I'm not sure I can figure out the dimensions I need to assure my frame is right by those drawings. I really need access to a '53-56 F100 on level floor to measure, I suppose.
Here's a pic of the frame of my Panel before the IFS was moved back into place and the rails were "straightened". The suspension is not fully welded yet or the outside plates made because I want to make sure the rails are indeed true before welding. The crude arrow indicates the upward bend in the RH frame rail, before it was bent back down. The LH rail was also bent up slightly. The bends naturally were at the thinnest point of the frame notch for the IFS.
The frame is the correct one, matching the numbers on the title and in good condition other than the bends so replacing it is not an option.
