Windshield wipers and washer fluid do not work. 1997 F-250HD XL. Gas (351). 2wd. E4OD. The fuse is good. Any thoughts? I don't know where to start looking for this.
Ground is good. Multifunction switch would be the turn signal switch with the control for the wipers on the end, right? What would be the best way to check it. The previous owner had the steering column all torn apart, so it wouldn't be too surprising if it was just unplugged.
Torq'ta, that wiring diagram is awesome, thanks! I've been looking everywhere for that. There's obviously not a lot of places this can go wrong. I'm looking at the Wiper Control Module, where would I find that? (I know it says behind right kick panel, but I don't know where the "kick panels" are, help a brother out here.)
The Wiper Control Module is located behind the right side instrument panel/dash not the kick panel.
Both of my old 1993 Lightnings had intermittent wiper/washer issues. The common fix is disassembling the **** on the end of the turn signal stalk and cleaning the wiper contacts then apply a small dab of silicone grease before reassembling.
The picture with the wiring layout is awesome, thanks! I'll try cleaning it, but it sounds like it's making good contact. I'm leaning more towards something stupid, like it being unplugged. The more I dig the more I'm finding random wires run between things from a PO. Thanks for the help, I think I have everything I should need to figure this out, I'll update when I figure out what it is
Well, I FINALLY got some free time to mess with this this week. I have 12V at the wiper motor and the control unit. I cleaned the multi-function ****, and I re-did all of the grounds. Still no wipers. So. Is there an easy way to test the motor or the controller to see which is bad?
I replaced the module on a whim ($122 from RockAuto) and once I plugged it in, everything works.
As I said above, I checked and had voltage everywhere I was supposed to, so I figured it had to be a control issue if nothing was happening.
