I'm stripping the crap out of my 1984 F150 engine bay. I'm doing away with vacuum hoses and other nonsense I feel won't be needed in my truck for my uses. What is this square-looking component on the driver's side fender? It has a lot of electrical wires and vacuum hoses going to it.... If I unplug and do away with the hoses, what will happen? Thanks for any information... Arrow points forward of truck...1984 F150 4x4 automatic. 351w HO.

See Below pic for a list of whats there.
You can not remove the DS II module as it is what controls the ignition. Also, yours appears to have the altitude compensator that will have to remain unless you convert to a conventional 2 plug DS II module.
The TAB TAD solenoids control the EGR and the thermatic. Do not pitch any of the stuff you pull off. list it in the for sale section as there are members that will need these bits as they are in areas that require this stuff to be in place for emissions inspections and they will be looking for these bits to replace stuff that was removed or is non-functional.
Also helps if you list what engine is in the truck when making these sorts of posts.
The truck looks pretty complete and stock to be honest it would be a shame to butcher it as complete stock examples are few and far between.

That is a interesting concept. Ford put everything under there for a purpose. If they could have left something off and saved a dollar I am sure they would have. You can certainly change things around if you know what's what. But just taking stuff off usually doesn't work very well. There will be negative results from most things that you disconnect. Unless you compensate for it.
