Oil drain valves

I've had a couple of different engine oil drain valves. Both drain the oil just fine but only one didn't leak like crazy at the oil pan connection. This has been my experience, YMMV.

Fumoto Original F-111

Works and seals like a champ. Fiber gasket just works, keeps the oil where it belongs.

EZ Drain Oil Valve - EEZ111

Seals with an O-Ring which leaks like crazy.

Another Fumoto fanboi here. Put one on anything you want to keep.

Your thoughts on the two valves were my findings as well. I installed a Fumoto on the truck many years ago and installed one on our other vehicles in the following years.

Doing an oil change on the road is very easy with the valve.

100% agree with you on that, would worry about tearing it off running around in the woods

I worried about tearing it off in the woods too but I do a lot of off roading and I've never even scratched an oil pan. This one is over 20 years old and looks new. Rock crawling is a whole different ballgame and I don't do that in this truck. I have a quad with a winch for that...

I had an EZ-oil drain plug in my 6.0 truck and didn't have any issues with it for the 2 years I had the truck. My last 7.3 and my current f-150 both got fumoto valves. I highly recommend a fumoto valve for anybody that does their own oil changes. You can get them with a 3/8 nipple to mount a hose, which is what I did. Makes for draining into smaller containers easy and clean. Perfect for sending off oil samples, if you're into that.
