Factory ford hitch
I just picked up a 96 f350 crew 4x4 psd in trade, and the previous owner says it has a factory stainless steel hitch. I have never seen one before. It's diamond plate on the sides, looks very nice, just never seen one like that. Does anyone have any info on this? weight rating, that sort of thing? Not sure what to do with the truck yet, has some rust, and not running due to bad fuel.

It's most likely a dealer-installed aftermarket bumper. The common bumper would be a step bumper that has rubber pads on the top deck and on the plate the ball would mount to. Will either be painted or chromed and it will have the ford Oval on it somewhere, too. Ford never sold stainless steel bumpers that were installed at the factory.

Are we talking about an frame mounted underbody hitch receiver or a bumper?
I have never seen a receiver made from stainless and I bet there is a good reason for that, it's too brittle for this type of application.
