You should see a "H6" code if your Expy has the limited slip 3.73 axle. Code 16 is just an open axle 3.73, but not limited slip.

Yes, Advancetrac uses computerized brake control to each wheel to maintain traction, instead of a typical limited slip differential.

My 2006 navigator had the 16 rear axle, was just a 3.73 open differential, no limited slip.
