Hi all,
I just bought a 2021 XL, which came with a wiring harness to wire in a brake controller. On my previous F150, this harness was attached to the covey that took the place of the factory module. The brake controller harness that came with my 2021 matches the other generation brake controller harness but I can't find the connector. After taking apart part of the dash it appears the connector on the back side of the change holder is a different pin configuration. Did Ford keep the old brake controller connector somewhere else in the system? Why would I get that connector with my truck if it's not an option to install and aftermarket unit?
The 21 trucks are not capable of using aftermarket controller, Ford issued a notice about this in the BBAS. Which harness did you locate? There is two and one is for the PTBA. The factory controller is currently on a 5 month back order.
Thanks for the info. The harness included with my 2021 truck looks like the old connector, so it doesn't really make sense.
Why would this be included with the truck if they totally changed the design? Below is a photo so you can see the harness I recieved.

UPDATE - I talked to Tekonsha tech support and they said at this time they are still working on a workaround/harness for the 2021. Factory is the only option at this point but they are working on it,
I think a lot of the first build trucks were shipped with it by mistake. There is no harness connector that matches that in the truck from looking in person and in the FSM.
