ever since i got my 7.3 idi where i could drive it and not have transmission problems my belt has been making a terrible noise. at first it was just affecting my vaccum pump so i didnt have good brakes then it started to affect my alternator and on my dash it said it wasnt charging at all or not very good then as of recently its been making my power steering very jerky. but after a while of driving it, it sorta all goes away and only sqeaks at high rpms. i tried to replace my belt but the belt i got was too long. dont know the part number of the new belt all i know is it was a gates and i got it from oreilly's so if anyone could point me in the right direction of what is wrong that would be great
yeah, I've had that issue too with Gates belts from OH Really....just take it back and tell them you need the other one for your truck.. they carry several sizes.
best yet is match the old belt if you cannot get the number off the old one.
then save the number from the package and put in the glove box for next time
it depends on what Alternator and tensioner you have, I can post different sizes but I cannot say exactly which belt you need
BTW mine is always the one that costs the most money, just saying LOL
