I've never heard of that. I'm not saying it's wrong, just that I've never heard of that.
same here. I did the test and got zero.
I looked at the schematic of the alternator and there are 12 diodes. Assuming 6 for the field winding and 6 for the armature. I looking at the schematic, one bad diode shouldn’t result in ac volts. It would take two .
checked under the engine per the various videos and the 2019 looks nothing like the earlier ones and do not use the tie wrap arrangement that caused chafing. The target red wire in the loom test fine at the pcm connector on the pax side alternator which I am assuming is primary.
I also disconnected all power and did a forward and reverse diode test on both alternators and they measured exactly the same .
in at the end of my kite string and silly putty techniques and at this point am throwing in the towel and expect to take it in on the 15th . Most likely will be left there for a few days and I’ll use a rental to get home.
im told this dealership does not have loaners but most rentals get reimbursed by the warranty plan. Don’t know.
while check all this I am not impressed with all this thin gauge wire all over the place intended to save some weight to help fuel ratings. I’d rather have the thicker wire .
thanks everyone for your help.
will advise mid to end of March what comes out of this.
What a pain, no appointments locally to July is just ridiculous. Only because I'm curious, do you have elevated RPMs at idle? I suspect not since your voltage is fine but that's what I noticed when my alternator was failing and under charging at random, no battery light though. 5% engine load stopped at a traffic light.
