I recently bought some tailight bezels for my neighbors 1971 f100. I bought them from a guy who advertized them as "1972 ford 100 tailight trim." I got them home and went to put them on and found out that they aren't the same size but they are the same that is on my '67! The normal trim that would fit my '67 was small and it would actually fit inside of his trim. His had 3 screws to hold it on where mine has two.
Is there a difference between the 67-69's and the 70-72's tailights besides the reflectors and such?
Also, if not, could my neighbors '71 have a 73-79 bed on it?
Ford made (2) styles of tailight bezels for the 67-72 trucks. The (2) screw mount which fit models without tailgate mldgs and the (3) screw mount which fit models with tailgate mldgs such as the Ranger and custom cab. The 73-79 bezels look similar but are larger than both styles for the 67-72.
What is the purpose of the little reflector below the taillights? I think they are on the 70-72's and not the 67-69's. I'm thinking I'd like to lose the reflectors, to clean-up the backend visually. Either weld on a patch, or get a set of the earlier bed end caps without the hole. Anyone done this? What's the best way to do this?
Keith, just another little difference if you haven't already added it to your page. The '68 and '69 side reflectors are the same but the '68 didn't get any rear reflectors below the taillights like the '69 did.
I snagged a set of tail light trim from an econoline thinking that since the lenses were the same that they would fit a pickup. They are much larger and do not fit.
I have a NOS set that I bought years ago and never used, now I need to see which style I have.
Question about the reflector, what purpose does it serve that the existing taillight doesn't? Won't the taillight act as a reflector on its own? It seems to me the reflector its self is overkill on Ford's part. Sorry if I'm beating it to death.
