Wow I hadn't noticed that. With the 2.7L EcoBoost engine they don't show ratings for 164.1" Wheelbase 4x4 or the 157.2" 4x4. Not sure what's happening with that, clearly those combinations are available. I just checked on the Ford Canada website. Should be very close to the 4x4 rating of the same combination, that's the pattern elsewhere.
It’s my understanding that the 2.7 is not available in those two wheelbases with 4 wheel drive.
I just messed around with the build and price on both Ford.ca and Ford.com and it looks like you are right. you are forced from the 2.7L into the 5.0L engine when you choose 4x4 in those wheelbases. That's not obvious, but appears to be true. I guess my faith in the tow guide is restored.

Oh wow, never even noticed that. When you select 4x4, it doesn't list the engine as a change, so it goes partially unnoticed unless you look at the engine choices again
After messing with the build site, as far as I can tell, it seems the HDPP and Max Tow are only available with the 5.0/3.5 Eco on a 6.5 ft bed but only with select, and seemingly, basic options on an XLT trim; any upgrade seems to cancel them out like the Sport or FX4 packages. Not to mention that you would be well over $50k for a slightly above base model truck. That said, it might be available with higher trims but I didn't look.

No, I think you are correct. 301A trim or lower only. It's a rare and unique set of options.
