dash board lights to dim???

Have you fiddled with the headlamp switch ****? My dash lights are terribly dim on my 1980, but I would have thought the factory would have made a change before 1984. Reading the guages is very hard, but I thought it was maybe a first year screw-up by the factory.

It's the headlamp switch **** that you pull out on the lower left side of the dash. Turn it back and forth, and the dash lights should vary in brightness. Turn it all the way to the left(I think) and the interior light, and the cargo light(if you have one) will come on.
