New to me 2017 f350 6.2. It’s just to quiet! So I’m looking to replace the muffler with something a little louder. I have to pass yearly inspection. What’s everyone running? Videos for reference.
All of the muffler manufacturers have sound files for what their mufflers sound like. The days of Cherry Bombs, Corvair turbo mufflers, Thrush, and Purple Hornies are long past. There's just so much out there these days.
They all come down to roughly 3 styles: ones that leave both resonators, ones that get rid of the small one, and the ones that are true cat backs that replace the front resonator. The first style is barely louder than stock (Gibson, afe), the second (like MBRP) are slightly aggressive, and the resonator delete ones (magnaflow, afe rebel) are very aggressive. I went the cheap route and removed the muffler back and dumped it right behind the cab. Its definitely raw during cold start, but low idle and driving is quiet, but you can always hear it. Roars under throttle. If I were to buy a cat back I would probably pick the afe without muffler, but that's 400 bucks for just a couple feet of pipe.
I’m not really looking for a performance gain. But would be nice. I want a little more sound. I’ve had Flowmaster son pretty much every V8 vehicle I’ve owned! I need cats, and a muffler to pass inspection. Youtube hasn’t really given many good sound clips. That’s why I’m asking here. I want to here what guys are running, and see some vids!
