glasspacks are cylindrical. they just look like a bigger diameter exhaust pipe. usually 12 or 18 inches long. they go straight through. they have fiberglass batting to reduce noise, hence glasspack name they are loud and dont sound real good imo. turbo mufflers are less restrictive than regular mufflers. they have a different internal design thats not as restrictive. the design first appeared on a turbocharged car i think in the 60's. the more free flowing exhaust helped the turbo charged engine breath better, hence turbo muffler name. they sound better than a regular muffler and are a louder but not as loud as a glasspack. thush makes one they call it super turbo. cherry bombs are a brand of glasspacks, i believe.
Yeah cherry bombs are just cheap glasspacks that you can get at almost any parts store. I think Thrushpacks are just Thrush glasspacks. I actually kinda like the 18" cherry bombs once they blow out, not for a nice rig but they work good on our farm pickups. We have a 75 F250 4x4 that we made our own dual exhaust for that we have to fix about 5 times a year but anyway, we just slapped some 18" cherry's on there and it has a good rumble to it. The funny thing is, it seems like every cherry bomb sounds different. Like if you had two identical rigs with the same exhaust with a cherry bomb on each one, they wouldnt sound the same. It's wierd
