4-Post or 2-Post?

Just wondering what most of you guys prefer. I have F-350 Crew Cab Long Box. Been a floor jack guy all my life. I'm getting too old to roll around on my back anymore lol. Let me know of all your opinions please. Thanks.

2 posts are really nice as there is less stuff in the way when wrenching. Brake jobs for example are way simpler on a 2 post. The down side is the suspension is unloaded. This can be an issue with some suspensions and clearance if you want to park under it.

I have two 4 posts. My shop isn't that big so I use 1 as an additional parking space and foremergency repairs. The other is dedicated to long term projects. I went with 4 posts for the following reasons:

-Better for long term storage
-More clearance to park under
-Can accommodate drip trays so no oil spots on cars underneath, not that any of my rides leak....
-You can level the ramps and use and a ground reference for custom suspension fabrication.
-You can load the suspension to better see potential clearance issues with exhaust runs, do an alignment at chest level, etc.
-The lighter duty models don't have to be bolted down so you can move them very easily. When I was shopping the highest capacity portable lift was 9000# so keep that in mind. My F450 will fit if I take off the outside rear tires but it weights 8500#'s empty so it will never go on the lift.

All that being said I would absolutely love to add a 2 post to my shop but I just don't have the room. If you ever have to swap a solid axle using a 4 post lift, you'll ask yourself why the $&%?#&$*$, didn't I buy a 2 post.

So be realistic on what you'll use it for most often and go from there is the best advice I can give.

RE: 2 post lift, keep in mind the requirements for installation. Some require 8" of concrete in the floor.

Friend had a "Backyard Buddy" 4 post on wheels. Easy to position in different areas of the shop.
