I just installed a new TPS and the idle in park is around 900. In drive or reverse the idle goes to 750. I read something about resetting it but not sure if that applies to our trucks. Is there any procedure I should do to get the park idle down or is it normal? As always thank you. Sandy
If no one has jacked with the throttle stop screw and the closed throttle KOEO TPS voltage is between 0.6 to 1.0 VDC leave it alone. No adjustment is necessary period. If the new TPS output is outside those values, go get another one.

Throttle stop is factory painted and hasn't been moved. I will put the meter on tomorrow and exchange it if it fails. Thanks Sandy
I had to try about 6 screwdriver heads to find the one that would get the old original (from what I can tell) screws out of the TPS without stripping them. The proper one got the job done. When I installed the new TPS I guess I was to concerned about stripping the screws that I did not crank the bottom one down enough and I noticed when testing today the TPS was moving. I probably got 3/4 of a turn out of the bottom one and it is now TIGHT. Fired truck up and park idle settled to the 750 RPM range. Problem solved. Thanks guys. Sandy
Thanks and again thanks for the article. I messed with the Idle screw on my first truck and the repercussions were disastrous. I didn't have the info you sent at the time I did it. Since then I try not to even look at it.
Thank you and for your advice and help. Electric blanket is ON. Little over a week ago I was fixing my A/C in the truck because I needed it. . Lived here most of my life and weather still amazes me.
