Several times in our local Home Depot parking lot, my 2018 F350 anti-theft alarm has gone off without warning, usually when I am walking towards the entrance. Since the first two times it happened, I have keep the key in my hand to make sure I am not triggering the alarm with something in my pocket, but it still happens roughly 50% of the time I shop there.
Any ideas why this might be happening?
Is there a fuse I can pull until I figure out what is triggering the alarm?
It doesn't do this anywhere else so I may be getting an erroneous stray signal in the HD parking lot, but no other vehicles are sounding off.
We have a 2018 Ford Escort that never had weird alarm issues until the dealer got around to installing the Ford remote start kit. After that we have alarms going off randomly as we leave the vehicle. Was fine before the remote start kit was installed.
The car was purchased off the lot. The kit was included with the car but for whatever reason not installed. I figured since we paid for it they should put it in. 6 months later we got around to it. (not a priority item) That's when our alarm issues started.
Probably a moth flying around in the cab setting it off. Happened to me.
A moth in my truck at night also set off the alarm several times before I figured out it was the internal motion alarm. One time my wife sat in the truck while I went into the bank. Standing in the teller line I heard the horn go off. Went back out to the truck and my wife said the horn started honking.
Internal motion alarm??? Bells are going off. I have started taking my Labrador with me and she stays in the truck when I go in the store. I was not aware there was an internal motion sensor. Could this be my issue and if so, how do you deal with it?
More bells. Being very young and new to traveling, my lab gets very excited when I walk away from the truck and I am pretty sure she jumps around while she is barking at me until I am almost out of sight. Maybe that is what is causing the alarm to go off. Can I somehow disengage the alarm when I lock her in the truck?
You need to turn off your internal motion sensors. On my 2017 you have to do this every time you shut off the truck as it does not remember this setting.

Same thing on both accounts for me. Danged moth didn't start flying until after midnight. I was outside in my shorts and rubber boots carrying a pistol for the thief----twice before I figured it out. Grandsons and wife got a kick out of hitting the button on the key fob while I was in Atwoods wondering why my FordPass kept telling me I had intruders. I knew I did. Three of them.
Mine lets me select Perimeter only when I turn the truck off. Have not found how to set that to default.
Took me a while to figure this out on my own truck, too. Every time I stop, I’m now on the habit of selecting “perimeter” instead of all sensors. I sure wish there was a setting that defaulted to perimeter.
You can set the default to perimeter in your advanced settings menu on the 8” productivity screen.
You can also turn off the “ask each time” option so it doesn’t pop up when you turn off the truck.
Setting it to perimeter here only stays active until the next time you start the truck. They need to change it so that when you change it to perimeter only , this will become the new default.

Unfotrunatly, my 2018 does not have 'Advanced Settings" in 8" screen. Only "General settings". The only alarm screen I have is on the dashboard, steering wheel controls. I guess I need to get Forscan app and dongle.
