WIF Alarm

I haven't had a WIF alarm yet and hopefully never will. Can someone tell me if you get a audible alarm when the WIF light comes on? Reading about the HPFP failures has definitely opened my eyes about where I refuel and just wanted to know because of the damage this can do, if there is a actual audible alarm.

My concern is if there is no audible alarm, it is possible a person could drive quite a distance before noticing the WIF alarm.

I have not seen it but every other thing on this truck makes an audible alarm except active regen. I would think that it makes the ding like low fuel and has a message on the display.

you could unplug the WIF connector and close the leads to turn on the alert.

Nope, but early on 2008 era when the big switch to DPF and the HPFP, ultra low sulpher I would get water but no alarm.

A few times I drained daily. No HPFP damage (had a 6.4). But you could tell there were issues with the fuel.

Nothing since.

I found this image on YouTube. It appears some 17-19 trucks are getting chaffed wiring on the WIF sensor wire harness causing this to illuminate.

Thins would sound a DING just like any other popup. I hope to never see that.

There is a ding, the WIF light comes on, and the display tells you to drain the water separator, very hard to miss. I got it a few times after driving through heavy rain - it's the connector getting wet.
