Hi everyone.....need some help. I have a 1986 Ford F250 with the 460. I sent the motor out for a rebuild and got it back in Saturday.
This part in the pic was in the box with the remaining gaskets. The guy that machined the motor is out this week and I have no idea what it is.
Does anyone know?
The bolt / stud looks like it is from an exh. manifold and the stud would hold the air cleaner hot air tin. I would think there would be 1 or 2 more?
The plastic washer looks to be for the oil pan drain plug bolt.
The "hair pin" looks like it would be for the clutch linkage Z bar to frame / block.
This is all a guess but if you don't have parts left over its not done right

Thanks Dave....I'm a bit of an amateur with this stuff and those parts scared the crap out of me. Especially since I got it all back together. Oh yeah....and I got extra parts too. I'm sure I made it more efficient! Lmao
It could be a main bearing cap bolt with the oil pickup support stud built into it. Is your oilpan installed? I hope not. If not, you can check to see that you have a long pickup tube hooked to the oil pump, and along the the tube will be a eyelet welded to it with a hole. This eyelet slips over a small stud made into one of the main bearing bolts just like the picture above. Then a small nut clamps the oil pickup tube in place to help support it. All of the rear sump oil pans have this.

Here's what it looks like on a 351W. I believe the 460 should be similar:

Yeah. Pans on. But the motor is out of the vehicle so it should be easy. Quick question...there was nut the I was able to affix the pickup to...is there a 2nd one?
