True. My 2007 Dodge 6.7L Cummins had an underhood insulator. It seemed its main function was to block the underhood light and to fall apart after a few years. Past that, I don't know what it did.

Hood insulation was nothing more than a sound barrier and now that diesel engines are much quieter, they decided to save a few bucks and no longer insulate the hood. My 19 still came with an insulated hood.
