High Capacity Trailer Tow

I have a couple of questions about the features on this truck. This truck has the High Capacity Trailer Tow w the Pro Trailer Backup Assist. With this package is the Adaptive Steering included? Also I'm not seeing the fifth wheel prep package on this window sticker. Is is included with the High Cap package? (I'm thinking no) Really wish I could get rid of the moonroof and instead have the LED headlights. Other than that I'm just wishing it had the fifth wheel prep.

With myself trying to figure out a ballpark X-plan price, I'm coming up around 71,000. That sound correct to you better informed guys?-- Thanks a lot for any help.

I has the trailer brake controller but I cannot tell if it has the 5th wheel prep.

Mine did not list it, but has it.

X Plan price = Invoice price minus .4% plus $275. I think your $71,000 is a little low. Invoice is roughly 6% less than MSRP
Based on this trucks $76490 MSRP (less destination), invoice is estimated at $71,900. $71,900 minus .4% plus $275 is $71,887. Add in destination of 1695 and X Plan price is around $73,582.

You’re correct, my mistake, I miscalculated and after speaking with the dealership you hit the nail on the head with the X plan price. Thank you.

I added the 5th wheel prep to my last truck in my garage, straight forward job but certainly understand, time is money.

Enjoy your new truck.

FWIW my 2021 does list the 5th wheel prep package on the windowsticker and has the plugs in the bed. But I ordered it that way thinking it necessary

back in 2019, my before trade on a 2019 f-450 DRW Lariat ultimate package wit dual alt, tow package, plow package, sun roof was 71K (80 and change MSRP)

I cant see myself spending 71K on an f-250.

at the time, I almost bought a m-2 106 super truck (GVWR 80K) that had 8K miles on it for a price of 68K. no onw would insure it so I bought the f-450.

I paid 60k before tax for my truck window sticker attached, but its a 350 not a 250. And I made the intentional decision to not get the power stroke because to me you don't see a big capacity increase on single rear wheel applications 22k vs 20k I think gooseneck if you have the 4.30 rear which I made sure to get. So if you add 8k to that for the diesel it seems over priced to me because I didn't even get xplan. I think lariat ultimate is a waste of money unless you are getting radar cruise and LED lights which require it.

I think you need to look very closely at the payload of a F250 with the diesel when it comes to ping/tongue weight of the 5er. My F-350 7.3/4.3 4x4 CCSB has a payload of 4104 but I do have the camper package.

Here is a link to all the tow guides from Ford https://www.fleet.ford.com/towing-guides/

You can get down to less than 2k "cargo rating" according to ford max of about 2300 my tongue weight on my 38ft bumper tow toy hauler is 1700 thats going to be far more limiting for you on a 5th wheel than anything else. The "cargo rating" on a SRW F350 will be about 1k more than the F250

High capacity tow still only has a limited GVW. Do yourself a favour, get a F350. Definitely with fifth wheel prep and gooseneck prep, I don’t see Upfitter, LED lights, and I would want if ordering the 360 cameras. My 2017 has adaptive steering, it’s great, 5th prep and good, Upfitter, LED lights. Only thing I wish I had was cab lights and 360 cameras but that’s what I could find at the time. Not a lot of trucks available right now so some compromise may be necessary.

Neither of those options are included with the High Capacity Tow package. Adaptive steering would be an additional $1k and 5th wheel prep around $500, on sticker.

The 5th wheel prep is standard on F450 pickups starting with the 2020 MY.

Makes sense that it is standard on the F450, good to know.

All this pricing stuff, Mine is an xlt and was in same ball park price wise and it is a much more capable truck then a F250.

If I wanted a long bed, I probably would have gone dually at that point and if I went dually probably F450 because the turning radius is actually improved so much.

I was to the understanding that with PTBA you got adaptive steering. I've seen trucks that don't have Adaptive listed on the sticker but have PTBA and they have Adaptive Steering. This would be disappointing if so.

Only the top trims include adaptive steering as standard. The PTBA does use a EPAS unit mounted in front of the steering gear. This is not to be confused with the upper column mounted adaptive steering. If adapting steering isn't listed it isn't on the truck.
