My Bronco is getting like 6.6-6.8 mpg and I am not sure why. What is normal mileage for these beasts? Tuned it up. I removed my clogged cat. My temperature needle doesn't move much. It just goes from colder to cold. What I am wondering is can the ECT Sensor affect the needle this way? I know that the Coolant temp sending unit is what makes the needle move, but is the ECT a part of it's operation as well? That is just one of my problems. I also have the bouncing speedo needle, Occasional abs light, and Lurching tranny. I tried to get a mlps sensor to remedy these problems, however I live on an island with out any dealerships. And then there is that stupid code 626. Any help with any problems is always appreciated. Thanks!
temperature sending unit controls the gage only. the ECT sensor is what feeds the ECM its info. my understanding is 10-14mpg is about the norm for these things, have you checked the base timing on it? it should be 10 degr. BTDC. hope this helps. DW
Well on my truck, if i could keep the truck running i could smell the tail pipe and it smelt like fresh gas.
Also 99% of time if I idled it, it would run really rough and then stall.
It DOES NOT come up as a computer code and I leaned it the hard way. 600 in parts (every computer controlled part) and then just cuz, i figured i would replace it... o man did i wanna kick my self.
Well this morning I started her up and she sputtered real bad, so I turned around and parked. I tried to start it again after letting it sit and it wouldn't even start. I got a ride to NAPA and got the regulator changed this morning. Now it still isn't even trying to start. I am waiting for a ride to go get a new cap and rotor. The other one looks worn. Hopefully this will solve some problems.
