Just a FYI: 2020 F350 assembled in Oct 2020. 700 miles on the odo. Found oil leaked out of the cylinder. You might want to check yours next time you are under there, hopefully not a systemic issue .
I'm inclined to replace it myself with a Rancho RS5415. Comments and suggestions please. It is a $58 item, rather then go down to the dealer and play the waiting game for 1/2 day.
Thanks,
Steve
While I do feel Ford should be accountable for things like this I would go straight for the aftermarket replacement myself. In fact thats what I did on my 2019. It wasn't leaking but did have one of the 17-19 garbage steering stabilizers on it that Ford is aware of and replacing as needed.
Mine leaked from day one. Go look at who made the gem. Mine was a Hitachi steering stabilizer on my 2020.
I didn't know Hitachi was in the suspension buisness. Guess they dable in a little of everything. Did it say where it was made? Regardless, the FoMoCo made in Mexico unit(17-19) isn't any better.
I just checked mine too, sure as hell made by Hitachi, aghhhhh.
Is this suppose to be gas charged?
Thanks for the replies everyone. Trying to make an informed decision to not waste my time on a factory crappy replacement and burn a couple days of my time.

Yes it is supposed to be charged. Mine was leaking and had no charge in it.

I noticed the note about being gas charged on that sticker in the photo. The made in Mexico version from the 17-19's were not a gas charged steering damper. I wonder if that was a conscious decision on their part to make that change in type of damper, in their efforts to mitigate the shakes.
