In an article earlier this month by Brett Foote- February 1, 2021(Leak Suggests All-Electric F-150 Might Be Called the Ford E-150 - Ford-Trucks.com (ford-trucks.com))
it may have leaked that the new All Electric F-150 may be referred to as the E-150. Although this makes sense because the E series vans have not been produced for some time, 2014 and only the 150 and 250 models (it's confusing), Ii would think they could come up with a better name. If they are just gonna ignore the "confusing" bit then why not EF-150 (pronounced F-150 or EEEEEF-150).
When the Mexicans made the F-200 trucks into vans (like the one in my avatar), they were called B-100 or B-200, then for some reason, Mexico switched back to F-100 / F-200 in the last few years of manufacture.
It should still be F-150, we have too many numbers and letters. Benz CLA 200 CDI is ridiculous. ML 280 CDI. F-150 V8 XLT 3.5EB 302A. When will this madness end?
Ford should just call it the F150 E or F150 EV and be done with it.
Exactly, because it's still an F150. Ford still produces the E series(Cutaway only), so while the 150 version of that is gone, calling it the E150 would still associate with the E series. My favorite idea? Just call it the F150, put an "Electric" badge on the side or something. Keep the name short and sweet, no need to give the model an added name.
I order parts online all the time and do not have to enter a VIN unless it's a dealer website.
He has a point, in that you can look up parts by VIN. That, and, that's what it is... an F150. Same logic with the hybrid, they didn't add "hybrid" to the name, like they did with the Escape/Explorer/etc. They might add something to the name, they might not, idk. Personally, I se no point, it's just another powertrain, but to each their own.
As long as they don't call it "F150 Mach-E" or something strange like that.
Edit/Add-on: Thinking about it, they also have to consider length. IMO "Mustang Mach-E" is kinda toeing the line of being too long/unwieldy to say. You wouldn't want to give the name so many syllables that it gets unwieldy to say
