If you don't have to worry about annual inspections where you live take the kitty out as well, Mine has been sleeping quietly under my tool bench for 12 years now.......
Take it to a muffler shop after and have a pipe custom bent for it that goes all the way back and you should be good.
Alrighty -- dump mo mo chit into the atmosphere (which stays up there for hundreds of years BTW).
Eek. in a few years they'll be saying that about everyone in this forum, and the Prius forum I'm on for my cars. Elon says it now. I think I'll stick with the anti-noise argument against straight pipes.
You're right. For me it's the noise. If you're driving 600-1000 miles a day you won't get as tired if it's quieter and that can be the difference between overlooking a vehicle at an intersection and getting safely to your destination. I do notice that I when I bump into things it's after a long day.
I removed the cat and muffler many, many years ago and reinstalled the cat because it was TOO noisy without it. (Sounded like a jet taking off) With just the muffler removed it's perfect (for me).
Yeah, I drive too much for all that. And I've accepted, at this old age, that I was not "gifted" by Mother Nature. Don't know how those guys who blow by me on the highway, and the big trucks, handle that for hours. But, I've never had one, so maybe it's not as noisy inside as I'd assume it is. And if you're a young guy, still hoping to father a child, I understand how straight pipes can lure prospective mates.
I've got a 4"-5" straight pipe exhaust on my 7.3. It's loud as hell on the outside, but inside, I hear more wind, tire, injector and turbo noise than exhaust.
