I have a line on a 97 10.25 with 4.10 gears and ls. I need to know if it will work on my 78 and can’t find any good info. He says it is not metric and spring perches should be the same as mine. Can anyone confirm or give me somewhere to look?
my d60 decided to eat a bearing in the pumpkin and chew up the ring gear.
You have to enlarge the hole in the factory block and in the spring plate. I used the new brake hose, and didn't hook up the parking brakes, so can't help there. It's really straight forward.
So, as an update. I got the axle. 4.10, trac lock 10.25. Needs seals and brakes before I can install it, but it’s identical to the one I have under my bed/trailer so it will
work fine. Hopefully ill
have it in soon and can report fully.
I thought the pinion itself of the 10.25 was longer that I couldn’t use stock driveshaft. I’m also using the springs from the later truck which I see supposedly keeps the axle forward I think 1.5”? I’m interested to see if you can use your stock shaft.
I didn’t have stock springs to use at the time and I have a flat bed so I’m interested to see what you come up with.
My truck was already 9/16” lugs so I’m good there. As for pinion, my truck has two piece driveshaft so that will help, find out for sure in a few days. I have super duty lift springs, rears are installed backwards and it kept d60 centered that way so should stay the same with 10.25
