Adding Gauges for 6 speed manual
I am looking for a couple recommendations on gauges for my 99 7.3. I have a 6 speed manual and have been working on finding a good 3 gauge combination for the A pillar. I'm not planning on doing anything crazy to the truck to push it into the 'danger zone' but I would like to have a better idea what is going on under the hood.
1. Is the fuel pressure a good third option? Any other recommendations for the third gauge since I have a manual, not an automagic?
2. On the boost gauge, is there any benefit to having one that has a small vacuum reading on it also? I know that diesel's shouldn't have vacuum, but would it show if you need to replace your air filter or something?
3. Is the intake spider thick enough to drill and tap for the boost sensor, or will I need to weld a bung of some sort onto the body first? Could I add a brass T to the existing hole for the MAP tube, and have that work? I'm not a huge fan of the MAP tube T option, nothing llike adding 3 more leak points!
4. I have heard that there are a lot of warping, fitment and QC issues with the A pillar option, is the Autometer a pretty good option, or is there a better one?
Thank you for the input!
