I have been battling a frustrating problem with my F250 2011 F250 6.7 Diesel for over two months. The problem is that the truck will start up when the the engine is cold and run with no issues. When I shut off the engine after driving for 15 minutes or more, IT WILL NOT START. NOTHING happens when I turn the key. If I wait about 10 to 15 minutes to cool down the engine. It will start. The FORD Dealer gave it a complete diagnostic and replaced the ignition switch. I was charged $536.00 and I still I have the problem. I'm reluctantly bringing it back to the FORD Dealer, however, I do not believe they can fix the problem. In addition, a previous mechanic tested both batteries, replaced the starter motor and "cleaned the connections".
I'm frustrated and would appreciate any suggestions.
Since you still have the problem, I would take it back and have them to insure you they fixed the problem. You have paid for the repair, let them make sure the repair fixed it.
they charged you a butt load of cash only to not solve the problem. Tell them not just throw parts at it. You can do that thats why you are here.
Do you use the parking brake? There have been lots of issues with the connector that is next to the brake peddle.
I purchased it new in 2011. It is stock and the problem started about 2 months ago. It has 190,000 miles. Before the ignition switch was replaced the radio was not working. After the switch was replaced the radio is working fine. It could be a lose wire????
Thanks for your thoughts. I had the same thought about the steering wheel position or not going completely in PARK, however, jiggling the steering wheel or gear lever did not help. If I go outside right now, the truck will start, so the problem is ...not starting after it has been running for over 15 minutes. If I run it for 5 minutes, then shut it off, it will restart.
I will post the DEALERS fix. if they can fix it.
Another thing I had happen to me was a fuseable would get hot and then it would for a lack of a better term become unhooked. You couldnt see it but I would wiggle it around and bingo. Another thing it could be is the starter relay in the fuse box. There is very little 12 volts inside the cab anymore. Everything is run off relays. You could swap out the starter relay for another one in the box to see if that is the problem. Just remember which relay you swapped out. LOL
