Hello I bought a 1997 Ford E350 with the 10 cylinder engine it runs fine but as I am going down the road the dinging alarm which I thing is to tell me one of these things, Door is open, key is left in ignition or seat belt is not on. Either way it just comes on out of the blue and stays on till the engine is shut off. Anyone know how I can disable this thing? I am about to drive it across country from NorCal to New Hampshire. Feel free to email me at mark-mitch@hotmail.com
Also thing I should check or replace before my trip. I will be towing a vehicle behind me on a dolly. Trip starts in April. Thanks for all your help. Mark
That noise is in the steering column. The hot wire from the key-on may be grounded. Either way, you'll have to remove the steering column cover. And it should be on top. If you have airbags installed it would be best to remove the Negative battery post first.
That is known as the DKAA, (Driver Keep Awake Assist) So you dont fall asleep while driving........ J/K. mine does the same thing when I adjust the steering wheel angle then turns off. Yes, probably some kind of short in the steering column.
