2001 F-150 V-6 I just started it and there is a rattling noise in the steering column.... I can feel the steering wheel vibrating, this is all happening while it is in Park....
I took it for a drive and it seemed to drive and steer normal aside from the rattling noise....
The noise/ vibration is most noticeable in Park..
Off hand I cant think of anything to cause your rattle.
I wonder if you could tell where it is coming from if you removed the steering column covers so you could see and hear it better.
I have always heard that you have to be careful working in this area because of the airbag components....dont know if this is true and how sensitive they are...but its worth considering since its expensive to get the repacked
The airbags really are quite safe to work around. Just dont go probing any wires in the steering column. It's a good idea to remove a battery terminal before you do anything with the airbag itself or the wiring to it.
