On an 88 f250, is the speed sensor on the rear axle for the ecm or the abs? I’m using the engine, trans, t case and wiring from one for a truck project and wondering if the ecm will miss that. Or can a just use the speed sensor for the cruise on the speedo output?
My understanding is the rear axle speed sensor is only used for RABS on a '88.
Correct. The sensor in the rear differential is only used by the ABS.

My ‘87 Bronco had a sensor in the 8.8 axle for the RABS. When the bearings failed I deleted it for a 9” with lower gears. The speedometer is driven off the transmission/ transfer case.
