Questions about getting Line-X
Regards,
it looks no different between premium/platinum from what I’ve seen for reference.
I also then opted for a bedrug mat on top of that for my knees.
I have friends that have Line-X'd their bumpers as well. One of them is just the base Line-X, and that turned dull, chalky gray colored after the first summer (several years old now), and another that has had Premium on his for longer, and his still looks just as black and shiny as my newly coated bumper does. I don't know anything about the platinum variation. My line-x guy didn't even suggest it to me.
I'm going to say that unless you're constantly loading and sliding things into your bed, like skids or rocks or block or something abrasive like that, it's probably not worth the extra money for platinum.
Specific to the sprays, I've sold hundreds of spray-in bedliners of various brands and my shop's default practice is to remove and reinstall bed bolts, box links, tie downs, and bed lights. Rubber plugs on the bulkhead stay in place and are sprayed over, because as someone else said they don't fit very well if you try to reinstall them. If you end up needing to drill a hole or cut a slit in them, like for tonneau cover drain hoses or wiring for electronics in the bed, usually the center section of spray material will release easily from the rubber and fall out anyway.
The bed light switches are very easy to break upon removal so they are typically masked. Between the bed and tailgate, I try to make sure the rear edge of the bed floor and front edge of the tailgate have some wrap-over to protect against snagging or damage when dragging something from the bed to the tailgate. I don't really see the need to go any further down on either side, but wouldn't have any problem with it if a customer requested it. I've never had anyone request to "seal" a bed and to be honest it's probably not something we would spend time doing. The tiny gaps between panels are there to allow drainage and flex in the bed, and I'm not sure how a spray liner warranty would work if the body filler or whatever is used led to cracks or peeling in the liner.
I felt good about spaying over the bolts. After all, I have never remove the bolts on on any other truck I owned. Well a year later the truck was in an accident and the bed was removed. Everything turned out good, just my bolts are now exposed. I don't know how the repair shop removed the Line-x from the bolts, but it looked good when there were done.
