I have a 2021 platinum 6.7 and when it got to around 850km or 500 miles it did it’s first regen around 60% full. I know they are scheduled around every 500 miles. I was on a short drive so it only went down to about 50%. My next 2 short drives it was in regen right away until it went down to zero. Is this normal? My 2017 wouldn’t attempt another regen until either the filter was full or another 500 miles was driven. I’ve added the status screen and auto regen check box with FORScan.
When it comes to regens, just about anything is normal. If you had a '17, then the regens should be familiar, but I think you're selectively recalling your experience. You aren't going to get to the 500 mile regen unless you are pulling heavy. When you pull heavy, the gas temperature is high enough to burn the soot out of the DPF without going to an active regen. The active regen at 500 miles is somewhat perfunctory since there's nearly nothing in there so the regen doesn't last very long. So, in regards to being scheduled around every 500 miles, no.
Also, given the scenario you describe for the follow up regens, you're missing something in your description. The truck can't go into regen until it is fully up to operating temperature. So, you aren't going to start it up from cold and have it go straight into regen. There is a regen threshold where the truck will go back into regen and when it just calls it quits. I don't know what that threshold is but I had an occasion where I got to 70 percent, had to stop for a couple hours, and the regen restarted after I had been on the highway for a couple or three miles. But I have had regens stop at 30 percent and that's it.
I write this just about every regen thread; Just enjoy your truck. Don't worry, be happy.
I monitor my regens with an edge. I make it a point that when I reach 100 percent full or 500 miles that I keep driving until the regen fully completes. Just like the above poster said , most of the time mine will only drop into the 20 percent range and turn off. It will lose a few more percentages as it cools down as well. If I get into traffic or few stop signs , it just turns off.
