WOW...
let me know when you guys are out next time....
I'll stay off the roads !!!!

I get bored with it WELL before 8 hours and find myself on cruise and not paying attention at all....

Sorta wakes you up when you realize you just went thru a town and barely remember it

I did Fairfax, VA to Carlsbad, CA in 53.5 hours in a Ryder rental truck with a 65 MPH speed limiter. I was able to get it up to 85 though in neutral coming down I-8 into San Diego Trip was about 3200 miles as I recall.

Would have been much more pleasant in my PSD.

That IS quite an alarm clock !!!!!

YEARS ago, I remember when I was working overseas, I volunteered for the night shift since our mainframe had not come in and it was REALLY hard to do any coding with a computer - so I rarely had to go in... but when I did, the driver would pick me up at the villa (really ) I'd sleep all the way in...
he'd drop me off at the front gate and I'd walk into the compound to the computer center... (with no computer )

one night I was dragging since I was surprised I had to go in and hadn't slept that day...
and as I'm walking in I hear someone in yelling at me in Arabic(which I didn't know) and the click, click, click of a round being chambered in an m-16

Arrogant, ugly american that I was then - I yelled back until I woke up and realized that he didn't even need to HIT me with that round... the sonic blast would probaly kill me !!!! then I got calm and held my hands up....

Seems his commanding officer had just "tested" him to see if he was challanging strangers and had reamed him out for not !!! Lucky me !

I didn't have ANY problem staying awake that night

Did you have a diesel? I ran from Omaha to Maryland towing a car with a 20' gasser rental truck (Penske) and I could barely do 40MPH uphill. When I turned in the truck I found out I could have requested the International diesel. Darn it all, that would have been cool! Moral: if you have to move, request the diesel.
