Hello I have an 04 expedition with about 160k miles. Lately I have been having a starting issue. About half the time I turn the key, and it cranks but the engine won't turn over. I have to keep cranking or cranking it 2 or 2 times for the engine to turn over. It then runs fine. This started happening occasionally but now it is happening more and more frequently. What are the most likely culprits that I should investigate first?

Try this...turn the key on and wait a few second, then off, repeat two more times then try and start it. If it starts right up the check valve in the fuel pump is leaking which is allowing the fuel pressure to bleed off as the vehicle sits.
Yeah, like Alloro said. Turn the key from OFF to ON a few times before you try to actually crank the motor. Check valve failure is common anytime after 150k miles. Have to drop the fuel tank to change the fuel pump out.

I replaced my pump with a genuine Motorcraft pump ordered from a dealership online with the best price I could find. This is a job you only want to do once!
