I have a 2003 Expy Eddie Bauer that I bought 2 months ago. A couple of weeks ago, I got in it to leave work and the engine did absolutely nothing when I turned the key. All of the bells and lights worked so I thought maybe I had done something to put it in a no-start position. After several tries and 30 mins later it started right up. Well.....it did it again tonight. Got in it and the engine did nothing. After trying several times for the next 15 mins, it started right up just like normal. Anyone else have this experience or know what might be causing this?
My starter went bad a couple of months ago while, I was in mytrle beach. I went to start her up and the starter just started grinding like, it engaged and didint disengage. Took it to the nearest dealerdown there and they had it fixed in a hour.
But on mine, when I turn the key, there is absolutely no response at all under the hood. All of the lights, and warning sounds come on but under the hood there is no grinding, clicking or any other sound at all. After trying this several times over a 15-30 minute period it just decides to start and is fine for a while.
I am unsure of its location on a 2003 but on my 99 it is against the passenger side firewall behind the pice of plastic that looks like a waterfall.. It is a cicular part with 2 big red wires attached to it. I would venture to guess it is somehere close to the battery on the firewall. Take a look. If you find it take an INSULATED screwdriver and with the key in the run position touch both terminals with the screwdriver. It may startle you at first but if the vehicle starts thats your problem. $15.00 part at the auto parts store.
If you don't want to bother just bring it to the dealer. Its under warranty.....................
I am having the same problem with my 200...it just started, or rather won't start....won't turn over, and my dash lights and gages quit after about 30 seconds with key in run...but the radio won't turn on...I hear a sound under the hood like a relay reseting...has anyone found the solution yet??
