Help figuring out electric pump issues.

Hey everyone I’ve recently gotten an 1993 7.3idi truck that’s in good condition but the mechanic lift pump was leaking on it. I installed the Chevy block off plate and wired in an electric facet pump to replace it. It was working great when I took it for the first drive but when I tried to start again it would not prime and my pump would not run. I’m not getting any power from where I wired it in.(the far connector on the fuel shut off selinoid). I’m wondering if that is a good spot to feed key on power to the pump or is the shut off possibly just going bad and grounding out somewhere it shouldn’t.

I don’t know much about these 7.3s but I had read a post of someone tapping into that same key on power spot with no reported issue.

edit: I should add that the closer connector on the shut off selonoid still has 12v and the selonoid is still operating. The truck will start and run but not as well as when the pump was working.

thank you to anyone that can help!

it's a Good spot IF you use a Relay to run the pump but a bad place to just Drive the pump..... Check Fuse "K" in the engine fuse box

This ^^^

That circuit doesn't supply enough current to run both reliably if at all depending on the load.

I worked on an 87 that it wouldn't even provide enough key on for a voltage regulator. Used it to trip a relay instead and all was well.

I should have included I set it up with a relay. The voltage from the plug is to only trip the relay like you were saying.
is there possibly a better key on power spot under the hood I should use?

I think you need to get multimeter and see when key on how many volts you have at the fuel pump, and work your way forward.

Could be not enough juice

Bad relay

Bad fuse or fuseable link.

But you need a multimeter to properly check it. Even a 3-5$ cheapo will work for automotive.
