Help with a C700 VIN number?
Chris
C70EVW25566 (The V looks like a Y, but also looks like a V) Ha ha
WB 153
COLOR X
TYPE C707
BODY 4A8
TRANS 2
AXLE E2M
D.S.0 B76034
C70 = C700 gas
E = 361 2V XD FT gas V8. (XD = eXtra duty, or Heavy Duty. "X" can also mean "eXclusive", but that's not applicable to the 361.
V = Kentucy Truck Plant (all trucks like this after 9/69)
W25566 = 1975 series number
153 = 153" wheelbase
X = X doesn't show for '75 but is Tan in '76-'77, and Antique Ivory later.
C707 = C700 gas, 23,000lbs GVWR
4A8 = Standard cab. I don't have upholstery or seat info.
2 = Clark model 282V 5 speed direct transmission
E2M
E2 = Eaton model 16244 two speed rear axle, 17,500lbs capacity, 6.17/8.58 ratios
M = Ford front axle, 7,000lbs capacity with power steering
B76034 = B7 -- Ford of Canada Pacific District code
6034 -- special order number. Since you have engine, trans, axle & color codes it's something else. What, I do not know.
Before you buy:
--new brake drums are not available for these trucks
--what kind of wheels and tires does it have? If it has disc wheels and the front rim is tube type with a solid rim, you may have widowmaker wheels.

Widowmaker Firestone RH 5 degree. Unsafe at any speed. This guy has a lot of pics of them so you can see what they look like.

Tubeless are going to be 22.5" wheels, and you'll see the tubeless valve stem in the wheel.
Also, is that door mounted marker light bezel from a '68-'72 F100? Shouldn't it say 700 on it?
I've always liked those trucks a lot too, and hope to have one someday. Good luck with it!

Hi Chris
I too am purchasing a C700 (750) and I was wondering what your plans were for yours?

It sounds like your truck will be working hard for sure. I'll be purchasing mine this week and it is currently a short wheelbase (135"), 20K mile fire truck that I will be converting to more of a highway friendly tow vehicle. I will be removing the fire equip. but hope to use a portion of the truck bed to create a cargo bed with a fifth wheel hitch. I'll probably be swapping in a different rear end and updating brakes, transmission etc. I'm looking forward to getting the project started. That might change after a a couple months though! HaHa
