I had a 3ott to c4 conversion done on my 1966 that has a 240. The z-bar type linkage does not allow the transmission to go into gear properly. I have to go to 1st gear position and then to neutral. Then it will go into the proper gear.
I would like to ask if anyone here has one they would sell?
There is no z-bar linkage for an automatic transmission. The Z-bar linkage was part of the clutch linkage for a manual transmission. Autos used a lever at the end of the steering column connected via a rod to the transmission shift lever

Push about half way down for drive, then if you need low just stomp on the clutch pedal all the way, no?
Here's the drawing of the steering column - automatic bits for lower end of column are in the lower right. Upper end is upper left. The column tube and shift lever tube are both different than 3-speed columns since there is only one shift lever sticking out the side of it. Number 7302 in the picture - lower right. If you want to keep the column shift I'd recommend looking for a C4 automatic steering column so you get all the parts you'll need. This would include the mounting point for the Neutral Safety Switch and it's lever blade so you can't start the truck in gear - unless you really want to be able to. Another option would be to change to a floor shifter. Probably easier.
