I have a 20 250 SD that I need to buy a 2.5in hitch for. What size adjustable drop hitch does everyone use for a stock truck? I'm looking at a b&w. I don't have the trailer yet so I can't measure the height.
I have a 6" drop bulletproof hitch for my 17'. They had a calculator on their site where you take a few measurements on your truck and a 6" is what they suggested. It works well for all my needs.
I have an 8” adjustable hitch. I have multiple trailers that need different heights . I have the tremor package. 6” drop would probably work fine on trucks with smaller tires. It’s kinda hard to say for sure . It would be simpler if trailers were all the same.
I've got the B&W Tow & Stow hitch with a 2.5" shank and 7" drop.
I measured today the distance of 10" from the pavement to the bottom of the shaft.
My 2020 F-250 STX CCSB has the 6.2 L, 4x4, stock suspension and 275/70R18 OEM tires.
I get off road often enough and I hate to plow a trench in Forest Service and BLM roads.
So I avoid the adjustable hitches. I seem to get by just fine with a 4" drop. So that's what I bought for my new 2020 truck.
A Curt 3" drawbar with 4" drop. You are all of $60-$80 to buy and if I really need a bigger drop some time in the future, I'll buy a second

This is what I am using, very happy with it and it being aluminum, it is reasonably light(or maybe not too heavy)
Depending on what I am towing I go from level all the way to full drop with my 6" adjustable hitch. I have the bullet proof 3". I need the capacity. If you are not needing more than the aluminum hitch can handle then that would be nicer as I am sure it doesn't weigh 60lbs.
I went with a Curt 45902. It fits a 2.5 inch receiver, has a 6” drop or a 5.25” rise and a 2” and 2 5/16 ball rated for 10k and 20k respectively. I tow a low flatbed with a 2” coupler and a high 24’ box trailer with a 2 5/16 coupler. Works great.
