It would seem that we have a bit of a delicate situation to navigate here folks. Appears that our pal Abe is leading a secret life with all manner of teevee commercial work and unrestrained, high volume singing whilst wandering down some dusty road with a dog he didn't name. Adding to the departure from normal stoic living is his sudden fancy with the color blue. Cause for concern, it would seem.
So what do we do?
My thought is if Pinecone Tom takes it upon himself to launch directly into into any of his convoluted (but ever enjoyable) Maine infused tales about how raccoons hacked into his Netflix account and changed all the preferences to make it appear he as acutally a fan of British baking shows it might lull Abe into a coma. This would allow quick action to repaint all of his trucks Sheridan Blue, hire a dog that reaponds to 'Babe', and have BobJ photoshop Mike Rowe's face over Abe's in the commercial. About mid-February, Tom should be about ready to start windin' down the story line and we can think about rousing Abe with whoopie pies or teaberry ice cream. If he's a tough case, we may have to bring out a whiff of foul gas.- I'm no expert here. We'll have to figure out how to explan that there is grass to mow and mulch to be laid while still winter. This may take a bit more pondering...Maybe someone will volunteer to whisper the words 'Meadow Green' into his ear so it sounds like something out of Citizen Kane.
Or perhaps we just ask him if his mother was a Werner or if he knows who lives in the old August Blucher place. That should bring the old Abe back.

Just a thought.
You gotta fill me in with these references. I looked up August Blucher and only found two Prussian soldiers that fought Napoleon.
And I don't get the Werner reference....

Now that would get me going! Actually only one NOS reasonably priced NOS stock mirror would get me going. I have one already in my basement in the FoMoCo box.
Abe, I need a nice set of correct mirrors for my truck. Keep a sharp eye out. We could make a deal at Truckstock. We know now that you have connections we didn't suspect, but I don't really need miracle mirrors advertised on late night television that project images onto a flat screen built into your dash--just something age appropriate to my truck. LOL and Thank-You in advance for looking for me.

I believe the panel trucks had shorter stock 9” mirrors.
I'm not a stickler for everything having to be absolutely correct. What I have now are two mismatched arms and the mirrors themselves are rectangular instead of round. The correct arm for my truck is 10.5 inches from the pivot point on the door hinge to the rounded tip. It is not telescoping. My other arm is telescoping and measures 14 inches when adjusted as short as it will go. The mirrors are supposed to be round. Ideally, I'd like another single piece arm to match what I have and round mirrors, but as mentioned, I'd be open to compromise.
This is what I have:
Abe, if you have or run across something that would be an up-grade for my mirror situation, we'll make a deal at TS.
No my point was that the 9.5 inch arms many find more desirable. They’re not winging way out like the stock truck ones. According to my friend whose an expert on 51-52 says that the panels came with these shorter mirrors. So a few stock owners will put them on the pick ups instead of the longer as and still be factory-ish correct.
I have a set of specially made up shorter arms. I haven’t had the chance to mount them yet. They would just slide into the existing stock hinge mounted set up.
I don't disagree that the shorter stock arm is more desirable. The driver's side arm on my truck is original and could be considered 9.5 inches in length depending where you measure from. I've never been able to get my longer passenger side mirror adjusted quite right. It doesn't seem like the extra 4 inches should be a factor--but maybe.
...so Abe, if you are keeping an eye out for mirror arms, shorter would be better--and I'd only need one. I'd spring for a pair though if that's the way they were being sold.
Jim, the smaller round mirrors may be "correct" for your truck, but from a more practical standpoint, I think you'll regret going away from your larger mirrors. You can see so much better with the larger mirror, especially with the large blind spots created by the panel bodystyle. For your right side vision issue, you might try to find one of those slightly convex mirrors like on newer cars with the 'objects are closer than they appear' markings. They help me with my vision on my daily drivers. Just a thought.
