2002 Excursion - fuel pump problem
1. Replaced the fuel filter. 2. Checked the fuse {it is good}. 3. Not sure about the relay. {I'm not sure it even has one}. 4. Checked the interrupt switch on the pass side kick panel and it has power to and from {all good}. 5. Turned the key on and the pump now seems to work. 6.Purchased a fuel pressure test kit with these results. With the key on it goes to 26 psi. At start up it goes to 32 at idle {runs very smooth}. When I rev it, it goes to 36-38 psi {runs very smooth}. When I remove the vacuum hose from the regulator, it jumps from 32 at idle to 40 {doesn't that mean the regulator is good?}. With the key off, the pressure drops to 28 psi. After two hours it goes down to 26 psi. After 4 hours it goes down to 19 psi. After 15 hours is now is down to 13 psi. The big question....... IS IT THE FUEL PUMP? I don't have a problem replacing it if I know that is the problem. Am I missing anything troubleshooting the issue? I very much appreciate the help and advice.
