Tuner program for best milage

How is a 80 hp daily drive considered best for fuel mileage? Would of thought a lower hp tune would produce better miles per gallon

It is possible to achieve best MPG,even with the hottest tune.
All depends from the skinny pedal foot.

I get the best mpg from my 120 race tune but it all depends on the skinny pedal

MPG's can vary wildly. As mentioned above, the skinny pedal is the best way and 1st consideration when looking to gain MPG's.

Despite what tune is loaded, overall mechanical condition is the 2nd consideration when looking to gain MPG's. Tires, sensors, exhaust drive pressure, intake, intercooler boots, etc... They all play a little part in achieving a well running 7.3L.

Although, sometimes "good" MPG's are just not in the cards no matter what the owner does. I am lucky and get 18.5 unloaded and 11 - 13 MPG's (both hand calculated) at 18,000 - 20,000 GCVW while towing a 5th wheel. Others are not so lucky and struggle to get 12 MPG unloaded. On the other hand, several see near 20 and at least one prominent member here with an Excursion gets 22 (maybe it was 22.5) MPG.

We are not saying that you cannot or will not reach your MPG goal, but with a 8000 lbs vehicle, you will have to be mindful of the mechanical state and the angle of your right foot when driving.

Obviously an enormous amount of variables from altitude, gear ratio, terrain, etc. BUT In line with the thread, what speed and/or RPM is considered the “sweet spot” for cruising..

Actually that's just a tiny variable, watching the mass full desired PID is kinda surprising. Like cruising on a flat straight section, It uses more fuel in 6th gear than 4th from 35-40mph, even tho the engine sounds like it would be happier mpg wise in 6th starting at 35mph. 52mph is usually my best mpg in 6th

That's all in stock tunes tho

It DOES NOT and CANNOT if you're USING the extra power. Power in a diesel comes from ONE SOURCE. MORE FUEL.

It helps fuel economy by making the engine run more efficiently in some cases. Some of it has to do with doing the same amount of work with less fuel.

There is one way that absolutely 100% guarantees approximately 20% better mpg, move to the UK....although the fuel prices here are eye watering compared to what most of you are paying, the Finlander is probably paying similar prices to me too....

Yep, these things are turds with stock power levels.

Don't "tune" for fuel economy, tune for sanity.
